Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Think of NLP as the art and science of freedom. We use it simply by exercising our freewill in conscious and unconscious ways! Yes, we can change the coding of our habits and emotional responses with a few great tools. Free your mind and prosper.

One major aim of NLP is to replace any self-imposed limitations with choices that lead to desired outcomes. An important part of this really useful exercise is to identify what we call a 'well formed outcome' or goal. Done properly, this process is potentially life changing and can take you in entirely new directions.

Central to the open-minded philosophy of NLP is a set of profound ideas about the effect that language has on our perception, mental processing and feelings. For example, the mental map we construct of the world is only a representation of what is out there. Most of us know this by now, the map is not the territory

Erickson and trance-formation

Ericksonian hypnosis is a conversational approach to therapy. It was the genius of the great Milton H. Erickson, M.D., that inspired Bandler and Grinder to develop NLP. As you may know, Erickson's ideas had a major influence on the development of solution-focused therapy.

Hypnosis is a conscious process that utilises a somewhat altered state. During hypnotic trance the deeper part of your mind responds more freely. It is usually described as being a pleasant experience, relaxing and dream like. You are always in control and safe.

Notice those changes as they happen

Before you seek any form of emotional therapy why not decide for yourself how many sessions you want. This may seem contrary to what you have heard about therapy. Do it anyway.

Calmly give yourself the instruction to resolve the problem as soon as possible, say to yourself that it can begin now or while you are asleep tonight. Then imagine waking up tomorrow without that problem.

Focus on the outcome you wanted. How you will know that you no longer have the problem you started with? What will you be feeling? What will others notice about you that is different? What else?
