Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has now become the therapy of choice for anxiety and depression. If your GP refers you for therapy, then it is likely to be a CBT counsellor you will be referred to. CBT is a practical approach that encourages you to get better rather than just feel better.
The pro-active nature of CBT appeals to many people. Therapy is usually brief and
it involves completing homework tasks between sessions. CBT teaches us that 'it is not so much things that upset us but rather our thoughts and beliefs about those things that lead us to feel disturbed and behave poorly'.
Is the way you think and what you believe, your philosophy of life, hurting you?
Introduction to Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (1 day): 9 Oct, 11 Dec 2010. This workshop will teach you how to apply the ABC model of emotional disturbance in every-day situations so that you can lead a happier and less stressful life.
